Woman steals bail money at court
A 32-year-old woman appeared before the Thabamoopo magistrate's court on Friday after she was arrested the previous day in connection with theft of bail money.

LEBOWAKGOMO – A 32-year-old woman appeared before the Thabamoopo magistrate’s court on Friday after she was arrested the previous day in connection with theft of bail money.
The woman is an administration clerk at the Thabamoopo magistrate’s court and the incidents took place between June 1 and 26.
According to a source the bail money is paid at the local police station which is handed to the magistrate’s court, where the woman receives the money.
Her superiors allegedly asked for a monthly report and misconduct was suspected when the money and the receipts did not correspond, the source revealed.
The source added that after it was found that more than R900 was missing, the police was called and the woman was arrested.
Capt Mamphaswa Seabi, Lebowakgomo police spokesperson, confirmed the woman’s arrest. “We are investigating a case of theft,” Seabi said.
The woman was released on R500 bail and the case was postponed to July 27.
