BMF spreads its wings to Tzaneen

TZANEEN – A new chapter of the Black Management Forum (BMF) was launched at the Tzaneen Disaster Centre by BMF Limpopo chairperson Sam Maloka, together with members of the BMF in Tzaneen and Mopani, on Sunday.
Maloka said the launch of the BMF branch in Tzaneen followed a three-year period during which there was a lapse in BMF activities in the Mopani district. “The provincial committee made the decision to mobilise, lobby and advocate for a BMF branch in the district, to serve the transformational needs of the economy of the area, and the development of black managerial leadership in organisations in the region,” Maloka said.
Tim Maake, a member of the BMF, and the district manager of the Mopani district municipality, was nominated by the provincial committee to lead an interim structure to resuscitate the activities of the BMF in the district, a duty that he executed with excellence and on time, Maloka said.
Some of the activities that the branch is planning for members in the district to participate in before the year ends include:
• A Nelson Mandela Day initiative in support of the national development agency and ministry of social development’s early childhood development campaign, which is targeted at children aged between one and four years.
• A job fund session with the Development Bank of Southern Africa and social development MEC Joyce Mashamba.
• A corporate governance workshop with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
• Learning about the revised broad-based black economic empowerment codes of good practise with the provincial chairperson.
• The Sanlam Sky workshop for wealth creation and financial literacy.
• A corporate golf day.
