POLOKWANE – With Nelson Mandela’s birthday recently celebrated, Share Joy Daycare and Montessori Academy decided to collect clothes and donate them to Samaritan House, in honour of Madiba.
“Learners from the school collected clothes that we donated to Samaritan House,” Josephine Kinuthia, owner of the school, explained to Review.
The learners also learned more about Madiba and Ubuntu, an African value that includes the essential human virtues such as compassion and humanity.
Share Joy Daycare and Montessori Academy started working with Samaritan House in 2013 when Share Joy first opened their doors.
“We sponsor some children and help the children’s home in terms of school needs.
“We also started a library there but still need more books,” said Kinuthia.
Peter Galane, operational manager at Samaritan House said they work hand in hand with Share Joy.
“We want to thank Share Joy for their work in raising young children. They have supported us from the start. Thank you very much,” says Galane.
Share Joy collected about eight boxes of children’s clothes and two black garbage bags full of clothes.
After handing it over everyone enjoyed some delicious birthday cake to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s birthday.
