LEARNING and teaching at Mphaphuli Secondary School near Thohoyandou will change for the better, following the boys’ soccer team’ win of a mobile library in the Express Store soccer tournament recently.
The school won a mobile library worth R60 000, 250 educational books, a soccer kit and a trophy.
The principal, Lufuno Mulaudzi said he was over the moon to learn that his school’s team was the overall winner of the Express Store soccer tournament.
“We believe learning and teaching at our school will change for the better, because of the books we received. The books will help to improve the learners’ English,” said Mulaudzi.
The soccer team was also congratulated by the acting Vhembe mayor, Lucy Mulaudzi, the Sibasa education circuit manager, Lambani Tshivhase, parents and the community.
Express Stores area manager in Limpopo, William Pretorius, said the tournament was the company’s way of giving back to the people who support them and to invest in the future of learners because they are the future leaders.
Pretorius said apart from hosting a schools’ soccer tournament, the company also catered for people with disabilities.
“We want the doors of learning to open for everyone through our donation for educational causes and different sporting codes,” said Pretorius.
The team’s captain, Rendani Nyadzani, said the Express Store soccer tournament gave them the opportunity to showcase their talent and they hoped to play for professional soccer teams one day.
