POLOKWANE – Four of Nirvana Primary School’s top natural science learners participated in an astronomy quiz at the University of Limpopo on Friday and won third place.
Mokgaetji Papo, Keratilwe Magongoa, Thoriso Tsheoga and Rachel Legodi competed against learners from 22 schools in the Capricorn district.
The learners were tested on their broad and basic knowledge of astronomy in a multiple choice quiz.
In May, the learners competed at circuit level and wrote a test to proceed to the district level.
Thokozani Mhlongo, the school’s principal, and Lekgoana Seopa, natural science teacher, both said they were very proud of the learners.
They wished them well for the next round, which is at provincial level.
“We make sure we study hard and are well prepared in every competition.
“We enjoy the work and find it very interesting.
“On Friday, our score came 23rd out of 30 schools.
“Laerskool Pietersburg achieved the highest score,” Papo said.
