Cappies 1st in Wits outreach contest

The gr.12 Talent Development Programme (TDP) learners from Capricorn High School took first place in the Wits University winter school competition with their social research community project.

POLOKWANE – The gr.12 Talent Development Programme (TDP) learners from Capricorn High School took first place in the Wits University winter school competition with their social research community project.

The Capricorn learners competed against 20 schools from across the country at the University of the Witwatersrand.

The competition required the learners to do outreach work in their community and implement a workshop or solution to any social needs that they identified during their community outreach projects.

Capricorn learners hosted a workshop for gr. 10 learners and their parents on how to select subjects.

During the workshop, the Gr. 12 learners highlighted the consequences that learners face when they choose wrongly.

Their teacher, Sandra Khoza who led the project, said learners find themselves involved in drug abuse, bunking classes and even dropping out of school when they are in university due to wrong subject choices in high school.
