LEARNERS from CM Sehlapelo Combined School in Seshego’s zone 3 were awarded for their academic achievements last Tuesday.
School principal Johannes Makhura said the aim of the awards was to encourage the learners to work even harder and, in so doing, to achieve the best possible results.
“We started giving awards last term. We want to cultivate a culture of learning and competitiveness among the learners so that the school’s overall performance will improve.
“We have to prepare for the annual national assessment (ANA) exams, which will be written soon.
“If you want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done.
“We are happy to be able to celebrate these learners’ achievements and we hope that, because they are prepared, the learners will perform well in the upcoming tests, especially when it comes to Sepedi home language, English first additional language, and mathematics.
“We want to ensure that our learners are well prepared when they reach high school,” he said.
School governing body (SGB) chairperson, Edgar Maputla, said the awards would encourage learners to study harder.
“This will really pick up the standard of performance. This comes at the right time when the learners needed to be motivated because they are about to write exams. The SGB says thank you to everyone for a job well done,” Maputla said.
