MOLETJIE – NKOANA Primary School in Ga-Kolopo village, Moletjie presented excellence awards to their top achievers on Thursday.
The school also bid a sad farewell to Mmamoila Lizzy Mashala, who was a teacher at the school for 20 years. Mashala was transferred to another school.
The ceremony was attended by school personnel, learners, parents and members of the school governing body.
Acting principal, Machuene Maega, said the purpose of the excellence awards was to encourage the learners.
“We recognise excellent performance by our learners. We want to motivate our learners so that they can improve their results, and in so doing, the school’s pass rate. We encourage learners to be consistent in their performance. We encourage them to compete with each other,” she said.
She further encouraged those learners who had not done well this term to study harder.
Bidding Mashala goodbye, Maega said: “we hope she won’t forget where she came from. The learners are very sad about her leaving. She was a treasure”.
Mashala said her 20 years at the school had been wonderful. “I have spent exciting and adventurous years with the school. Many of the learners became sisters and friends and are all grown up with families of their own,” she said.
