POLOKWANE – Children are often of the opinion that they know better than their parents. Review speaks to some Mitchell House learners to find out what advice they would give their parents.
Mothusi Mophuting (12) says he thinks he would tell his parents to get with the times. “They must live younger, be more enthusiastic about things and do things younger people do,” he says.
Muhammed Khan (12) feels his parents should be the ones giving him advice. “Parents should stop giving their children games or toys and sweets as a reward for doing well in their exams. Kids should be taught to study harder without any bribes.”
Margaret Libetwa (11) would like her parents to be less strict and give her everything she wants. “My parents are overprotective and I feel that parents who are too strict often produce sneaky children.”

“I would like to advise my parents to be more lenient with me, especially during exam times,” 13-year-old Fatima Ismail says. Her friend Tashmika Seyanund (13) feels her parents could be more lenient when it comes to her coming home late. “They should trust me to be responsible,” she says.
