POLOKWANE – Nirvana Primary School hosted a hat decoration competition over a period of two weeks and was able to raise a total of R5 400 for Cansa in the process.

The winners of the competition, which learners from gr. R to 7 participated in, were announced at the school last Friday.

The learners had to pay R25 each and come up with creative ways to decorate hats they received from Cansa.

Cansa Polokwane information officer Enny Mashapa, said the competition was part of Cansa’s educational programme. She said she led the project with the help of Nirvana Primary School principal, Thokozane Mhlongo.

Cansa’s mascot, Toktokkie, attended the event and spent some time with the learners as well. Toktokkie helped Mashapa to teach the learners about the dangers of smoking.

The competition winners were Sehriz Jarnadar, Qusia Baig, Kaybee Dankuru, Clementine Mosweu and Sabah Jaweed.
