POLOKWANE – Monkeynastix Limpopo Central held a prize-giving ceremony at the Pemps hall last Sunday, where more than 500 children were awarded for their hard work during the year.
Monkeynastix is a broad-based, holistic programme that combines creativity and music with basic training in flexibility, balance, strength, agility, coordination and body awareness.
The children participated in various activities before receiving their medals.
Medals were awarded for free play, gross motor skills, balance and stability, monkeyrobics and cardio vascular activities.
Cherelle Chrystal, Monkeynastix Limpopo franchise owner, said they believed in rewarding children to build their self-esteem.
“Each child receives a special sticker and hand-out at the end of every session. Children receive a Monkeynastix participation certificate at the end of each term.
“Learning healthy living habits can be fun,” she said.
Chrystal said they reinforced parents’ input at Monkeynastix by adding in sessions that included emotional intelligence, social skills, healthy habits and many more.
She said she often helped organisations that catered for people with disabilities in the province.
“I take some of my profit from the three Monkeynastix franchises in Limpopo and use it to fund my work at these organisations. I believe that the hand that gives, receives,” she added.
