Orion shines at PEMPS inter-house meeting

Pemps hosted their annual inter-house athletics meeting at their sports grounds on November 7.

POLOKWANE – Pemps hosted their annual inter-house athletics meeting at their sports grounds on November 7.

The meeting was held in order to select a team that would represent the school at next year’s primary inter-school athletics meeting.

Pemps principal, Desiré Conradie, said the school did well in this year’s primary inter-school athletics meeting.

“Our learners did exceptionally well, but I believe that there is room for improvement. We usually select the team during this time of the year so that we have enough time to prepare our athletes for the inter-schools competition,” she said.

The school only focused on track events to give all the learners a chance to participate and have fun.

Conradie said more than 500 learners took part in the inter-house athletics.

“All learners are committed, hard working and dedicated. They all want to be part of the team that will represent the school next year. We aim to win as many medals as possible next year,” she added.

The learners competed against each other in the school’s four houses; Draco House in red, Orion House in yellow, Aquila House in blue and Sagittarius House in green.

Orion House won the inter-house meeting, Draco came second, Sagittarius third and Aquila came fourth.
