LEARNERS of the April Makgakga Primary School in Makgofe village in Moletjie, received new school shoes last Wednesday.
The MTN Foundation in Limpopo donated 100 pairs of school shoes to learners who needed new shoes.
MTN Foundation marketing manager for Limpopo, Mary-Jane Mokatse, said they wanted to support education in the province with several donations.
“We did our research and identified the children who needed new shoes the most. We ensured that they received new school shoes, but realise that there is still a major need in this community. We made a start with this donation,” she said.
Mokatse explained that they also made other donations to schools in Limpopo:
• Nirvana Primary School received a mobile library.
• Westenburg Secondary School received a CompuJector.
• Makgofe High School received a CompuJector.
• Phishego Primary School received a CompuJector.
• Kabosadi Drop-in Centre received a CompuJector.
• Noddy’s Playground Crèche and Pre-school reveived educational toys worth R5 000.
• Bosale School for the Blind received a new computer laboratory.
According to the inventors of the CompuJector, AstraLab, this invention was developed for the South-African classrooms.
It is technology that combines data projection with computing power and is portable and can be safely stored in a school’s storeroom at night. The CompuJector is pre-loaded with Wikipedia and Mindset content and can be used as a powerful teaching tool in the classroom.
“All we want to do is to put smiles on the learners’ faces. It is our social responsibility to help where we can,” Mokatse told Express.
April Makgakga Primary School principal, Doreen Malebana, thanked the MTN Foundation for the donation.
“We thank God for sending us angels to help us. Your donation is a blessing to us. Your donation has the power to change lives,” she said.
