POLOKWANE – The first day of gr. 1 is a major milestone for every learner.

Review speaks to three gr. R learners of Curro Heuwelkruin to find out how they feel about moving on to the “big school”.

“I am very excited to go to gr. 1. I have met my new teacher, but I do not know her name yet. I like her very much, because she does fun stuff with the learners in her class,” says Luna Leon. She says she enjoys homework, because her parents help her, “but I do my own drawings”.

Alisha Calokechi says she cannot wait to go to gr.1 and be in her new teacher’s class.

“I like my new teacher, she is fun,” she says. Alisha says she likes homework because it makes you clever.

“I like my new teacher a lot. She is very creative. I also like homework too as it makes you clever and you learn a lot of new things,” says Daiyaan Cassim. He says his parents do not help him with his homework and he does it all by himself.
