CURRO Northern Academy is very proud of its debating team, which has gone from strength to strength over the past five years under English teacher, Ngwanathaba Molepo’s guidance.

This year the debating team was one of 45 school debating teams that took part in a Rotary Club International South Africa debating competition in Pretoria.

The team won the best team award, and Eric Seabela took the overall best speaker award.

Molepo said Eric would join 31 learners, including some from Botswana and Namibia, on a six-week tour as part of a cross-cultural exchange programme and would travel to various countries. These learners will represent the southern part of the African continent as ambassadors.

This month, Eric and a learner from Zimbabwe will visit Germany, which is part of the prize he won at the Rotary Club International South Africa debating competition.

The learners will be exposed to various educational institutions, historical and cultural heritage sites throughout Cologne, Bonn, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Esslingen, Nuremberg and Munich.
