POLOKWANE – Ranwedzi Maiwashe (17) started his school career at Mitchell House in 2003.

Last year he matriculated in the top 10 academic achievers of Mitchell House College.

His other subjects included mathematics, geography, life sciences, physical science, English, Afrikaans first additional language and life orientation.

“I loved geography because of the teacher, Heather Cook, and because I was good at it,” he said.

When he was seven years old, he wanted to become a police officer or a racecar driver.

“Now I would like to go into property or real estate development. I plan to enrol at the University of Pretoria or Wits and study towards a business degree.”

Ranwedzi said he did not have a study schedule and he used his discretion on how much to study for each subject.

He admitted that he was often more involved in social and extramural activities.

He represented Mitchell House College in the 100 m and 200 m for boys u/17 and was also captain of the first soccer team.

“It’s important to stay fit in your gr. 12 year. You must stay healthy in order to achieve good marks,” he advised.

He said he did not have a role model, but his parents and the rest of the family were constantly taking time out of their busy schedules to help him with his studies.

“In five years’ time I see myself working in the property industry,” he said.
