THE gr. 12 learners of 2014 at Piet N Aphane High School in Zebediela pulled out all the stops to achieve a 100% matric pass rate last year.

In addition to their normal classes, the learners also attended morning classes, afternoon classes, and lessons over weekends and school holidays at the Limpopo Mathematics and Science Academy.

“I am very proud of our 2014 matriculants. I did not expect such good results, especially with the new curriculum. We improved our pass rate from 96,8% in 2013 and the teamwork among the teachers was remarkable,” said principal, Joseph Masekela.

He said the school achieved a 100% pass rate for English, Sepedi home language, geography, economics, life orientation and mathematics literacy. They also achieved an 80% pass rate for mathematics, 81,8% for life sciences and 60% for physical sciences.

“We want to ensure the school is loved and supported by the community,” Masekela said. He thanked the parents for their contribution and for paying for the extra lessons that their children attended.

Piet N Aphane High School was named the best performing school in the Magatle education circuit in the Zebediela cluster.
