MOKOPANE – “IT was a very tough decision to choose the best dressed boy and girl out of the 64 learners that participated in the dress-up party, as each learners costume was truly magnificent,” said Mariana van Tonder, manager at the Piet Potgieter Monument Old age home and one of the judges of the day.
The gr. 4 – 7 learners of the Mokopane English Combined School (MECS) all dressed up as grandmother and grandfather last Friday and was judged accordingly by Mariana, Annette Venter and Ben Essakow, residents of the Old age home.
It became a tradition at MECS for every phase, gr. R – 3, gr. 4 – 7 and gr. 8 – 12 to take part in a dress-up party day as a fundraiser for the gr. 12 learners fund.
Each learner received a cool drink and a tasty lunch and after a tough competition Shazneen Omar in gr. 4 was crowned as the best dressed grandmother and Malope Mosola in gr. 6 was awarded as the best dressed grandfather.
