Mitchell House learners shine

Mitchell House's gr. 4 to 7 science learners participated in the National Science Olympiad recently.

POLOKWANE – Mitchell House’s gr. 4 to 7 science learners participated in the National Science Olympiad recently.

The Olympiad is a recognised, prestigious event and the questions were not necessarily curriculum based, meaning that the learners had to do a lot of extra studying and research.

“We congratulate our teachers, Kerry Spratt and Heather Swallow, for making sure that our learners were well prepared for the Olympiad,” Andrew Cook, headmaster of the school, said.

Gr. 5 results:

Out of 1 289 entries, only 39 learners countrywide achieved distinctions. Mitchell House won third place in this grade, and Ismail Gani, came first in the country, achieving 100%.

Gr. 6 results:

Out of 1 339 entries, only 13 learners countrywide achieved distinctions. Mitchell House won first place in this grade, and Natalia Letsoalo, came second in the country, achieving 80%.

Gr.7 results:

Out of 1 556 entries, only 17 learners achieved distinctions. Mitchell House won first place again. Rohit Menon, Rameez Omar and Lebo Rachidi shared the second place in the country, achieving 83%.
