POLOKWANE – Westenburg Secondary School gr. 12 learners geared up for the mid-year examinations, which start in June, with extra classes during the April school holiday.
While the other learners were at home enjoying their holiday, the gr. 12’s were attending extra classes in all subjects at the school. The subjects included Afrikaans, English, maths, maths literacy, geography, history, life science, physical science, economics, accounting and business studies.
It was not just the teachers from the school who offered the extra classes. There were also teachers from other circuits who were sourced by the school through the department to help the learners.
The learners said they were grateful towards the principal and teachers for the extra classes.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to improve our marks. We get to ask questions on work we do not understand and we catch up on work that we are behind with. We also get tips on how to prepare for the exams and we also learn how to support each other, through the group activities that we do in class,” the learners said.
