POLOKWANE – In support of a healthy lifestyle and overall well-being, Nirvana Pre-school held a Health and Wellness Day on Sunday.

The event started with a fun walk in Nirvana and each child that participated in the walk received a goodie bag, much to their delight.

The following health screenings were offered during the Health and Wellness Day:

• Breast screenings by Cansa.

• Dental checks by the department of health.

• A blood bank by the SANBS.

• Blood sugar testing, eye screening, and cholesterol checks by the Islamic Medical Association.

• Glaucoma eye testing by Shabbier A.Y. Motala Optometrist.

• Speech and hearing therapy by Tasneem Carrim Ismail.

• Presentation of a healthy eating plan for children and preparing healthy lunches by Qudsiya Kassim.

Food stalls, selling healthy meals, snacks and drinks ensured no one enjoyed the day on an empty stomach.

Children enjoyed the pleasure of a jumping castle, and different joy rides.

Horse rides, face painting and sand art kept the young ones busy too, as well as colouring and skipping competitions, in which the top three winners each received a prize.

The day ended with a raffle draw.

The raffle draw winners and the prizes they won were:

1. Ilhaam Bava – bicycle.

2. Bilal Modan – scooter.

3. Aaisha Ebrahim – goodie bag.
