"We stand firm as we say no to xenophobic attacks happening all around the country" Karen Adlem

POLOKWANE – Pemps gr. R learners and teachers gathered at the school’s fantasy garden on Friday dressed in all the colours of the rainbow to say an emphatic no to xenophobic and afrophobic attacks.

The gathering was also attended by teachers, Pemps primary school principal, Desiree Conradie, gr. R principal, Karen Adlem and Pemps gr. R school governing body secretary Edwin Ntsie.

Adlem said they were trying to bring the rainbow nation back together by dressing up in various traditional clothes and national sporting codes colours.

“The gathering was held under the theme ‘My Country South Africa’.

“We stand firm as we say no to xenophobic attacks happening all around the country.

‘Let us join forces and live in peace and harmony,” Adlem said.

She added that they painted a picture of Nelson Mandela holding a book in his hands to support the campaign against afrophobia.

Conradie said she was very proud of the teachers and learners for raising their voices against xenophobia and afrophobia.

She further said teachers should keep up the good work and offer a high standard of education to children.

Ntsie also said he was very proud of the gr. R’s.
