POLOKWANE – THE 411 Cast project in Polokwane, is an organisation that offers a platform to passionate students who want to pursue a career in media.

According to general manager, Thabang Masinga, the organisation provides an internship programme to graduates who have not managed to gain employment.

“This is a way of creating job opportunities and giving back to the community.”

Masinga said they want to offer necessary skills and the experience in the sector of journalism, radio and video. “With the high unemployment rate amongst the youth, the programme will offer the right start to their careers.”

He said candidates would be offered a chance to practise what is expected from them in the field and that will help in preparing them for a work environment. Masinga said anyone with a qualification relating to media can access their services and will be placed with different companies after completing the course.

“We are still establishing a partnership with institutions that are willing to assist us and by far we have made great progress.”

He said they want to make their services accessible to anyone regardless of geographical factors while they reach the masses.

“We have embraced the use of digital media and have partnered with Voonja organisation who provided that palrtform.”

CEO, Kim Chulu, said Voonja is a journalism reporting platform. “Users provide on the spot breaking news of events happening in their communities in the form of an article,” he said.

Chulu said they also offer candidates a learning opportunity to know what to put out and what not to put out judging from the response of the audience.
