LIMPOPO – LIMPOPO hip hop musician, Mopedy has released a new song, Dinkgwete in celebration of Thobela FM’s victory at the sixth annual MTN Radio Awards, which was held at the Sandton Convention Centre on April 18.

Thobela FM won five awards:

• Best Breakfast Show – Ditlalemeso.

• Best Afternoon Drive Presenter – Skhumbuzo Mbatha.

• Best Music Show – Mekgolokwane.

• Best Weekend Radio Show – Church Monetary Contributions.

• Station of the Year.

Mopedy says he recorded the song to congratulate the station, which has shown him support since he started his music career.

“It is important to celebrate the achievements of the people of Limpopo. Each and everyone of us who is involved in the arts and other careers is doing it for the people of Limpopo. I always want to be among those who bring positivity in Limpopo and put the province on the map,” said Mopedy.

The station was the first to play the song, which was recorded, mixed and mastered in just over 48 hours and features newcomer, Tyra Mashao.

“This was also Tyra’s first recording and am happy it happened on such a huge track,” he said.

The rapper said he was confident the song would inspire listeners to continue dreaming.

Although the song was recorded for Thobela FM and was played exclusively by the station, Mopedy said he was not worried about other stations not playing the song.

“This is not my new single. It is a theme and congratulatory song for the station on its achievements. Sometimes it’s not all about artists making money, but about playing a selfless and meaningful role in society.”
