POLOKWANE – Top performing Stanford Lake College (SLC) learners were awarded for their hard work and dedication, during an awards ceremony held at the school last Friday.
Mfumo Mongwe was among the learners who were awarded. He attended the National Schools Athletics Meeting held at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium near Rustenburg during the April holiday. He participated in the 100 m and 200 m field events and qualified for the final of the 100 m event.
In the final he was placed fifth and finished the race in a time of 11 seconds.
Mfumo was awarded honours at school on his return for his outstanding achievement.
Conrad Schmidt received full colours for playing three full seasons for the first XI cricket team; he played over 16 games. Declan Taggart, Dewald Ludick, Tristan Baptista, Pieter de Witt and Karabo Mollo received full colours for two years’ selection to the Mopani district u/17 athletics team.
Honours:
• Tshepo Modiba, two years’ selection to Limpopo u/18 girls cricket team.
• Makungu Valoyi, exceptional leadership, service, dedication and skill. Makungu received full colours in gr. 10 and gr. 11 and received medals for three years at the Limpopo district trials.
