PEMPS and Graceland face off on soccer pitch for some friendly competition

Pemps soccer teams competed against Graceland Combined Primary School from Mmotong village in some friendly games that were played at Pemps' sports ground on Thursday.

POLOKWANE – Pemps soccer teams competed against Graceland Combined Primary School from Mmotong village in some friendly games that were played at Pemps’ sports ground on Thursday.

According to Sylvester Kgomo, Graceland soccer coach, the aim was for their learners to gain experience in playing on a grass soccerfield.

“We are from rural areas and our children do not know the feeling of playing on a grass soccer field, which is why we made this arrangement with Pemps,” he explained, adding that it had also given learners the chance to socialise and make friends with children living in urban areas.

Kgomo added that he hoped such meetings could be arranged more often to expose their learners to modern life. He further thanked Pemps for the opportunity to visit the school.

The Graceland u/10A team defeated Pemps 3-2. At half time, Graceland was leading 2-1 with goals scored by Mosa Phalane and Neo Senyatsi, while Noko Pilusa from Pemps answered for his team with a goal.

The second half of the game saw Samuel Modise of Graceland adding another goal to his team’s list. Lethabo Mashamaite scored the second goal for Pemps in the last minutes of the game.

The u/10B team match between the two schools ended with Graceland leading 2-1. Both teams were very competitive and played excellent football.
