‘Rural communities must join hands to fight poverty’ Vhavenda king
THE Vhavenda king, Toni Mphephu Ramabulana, has called on the community to join hands and work together on developmental projects to help fight unemployment and poverty that hinder the rural communities.

LIMPOPO – THE Vhavenda king, Toni Mphephu Ramabulana, has called on the community to join hands and work together on developmental projects to help fight unemployment and poverty that hinder the rural communities.
King Toni Mphephu Ramabulana held his birthday party on Saturday at his guest house in King’s kraal near Nzhelele outside Thohoyandou.
“I am happy to celebrate my day with my traditional leaders and the community at large. I feel proud to be with you, as a king is only a king by his people,” said King Mphephu. The day was full of traditional dances such as tshikona and tshigombela. The community ululated as King Toni Mphephu entered the podium. The day also forms part of preserving Vhavenda culture and is celebrated annually.
Artists such as ZoZo, Khakhathi and Friends, Mutendas and Mariana, were amongst the artists who entertained the people who attended.
King Mphephu was joined by his queen, Hulisani Mphephu, Vhembe district mayor, Tshitereke Matibe, Thovhele Kennedy Tshivhase, Thovhele Gole Mphaphuli, traditional leaders and the community.
One of the residents who celebrated the day with King Mphephu, Emily Khedzi said: “King Mphephu Ramabulana is our leader and our king; we ululate him and pray to God to give him wisdom to rule his people successfully”.
