POLOKWANE – Just moments after a lost child was found by members of the Northern Upper Town (NUT) community policing forum (CPF), yet another lost child was reported and also speedily located by the NUT CPF last week.
NUT spokesperson, Karen Botha, who is also Savannah Mall’s marketing manager, said NUT members assisted the parents of the child to locate him after he could not be found at a local school in the city.
Botha said members of NUT were quick to assist the frantic parents in their search for the child.
Whether this family lived in policing sector 5 or were part of the NUT CPF, were neither here nor there; the focus was on finding a lost child regardless of who the family was.
The families of both children expressed their gratitude towards everyone who assisted in the search.
Botha said the NUT CPF worked closely with the police, municipality, psychologists and several organisations such as child protection as well as local churches and would like to thank everyone for their commitment and assistance when and where it was needed.
“Together we can make a stronger contribution to the solving of family problems,” she said.
“The decrease in incidents in the patrolling area of sector 5 has proven that we do make a difference and for this we are thankful,” Botha said.
According to Botha, the NUT CPF plans to host a potjiekos competition to which other sectors’ police, CPF members and residents will be invited.
She said more information in this regard would be made available soon.
“Our members are also working on a unique logo for future marketing purposes, which will also be available in the weeks to come.
“Watch this space, we are out to make a difference and would like everyone to know about us and what we do,” Botha concluded.
