Alcohol abuse: you may not know you need help

Here is a simple test to see if and how alcohol affects you. Do the test yourself and see if you may need help

POLOKWANE – People drink to socialize, celebrate, and relax.

Alcohol often has a strong effect on people, and throughout history, we’ve struggled to understand and manage alcohol’s power. Why does alcohol cause us to act and feel differently? How much is too much? Why do some people become addicted while others do not?

Amanda van Staden from Sanca Polokwane calls on residents to learn how they are effected by alcohol.

”We do these tests with people who think that they may need assistance in substance abuse. As the first step is always realising that there is a problem, we give people the chance to see if they may be in need of assistance. In the past, this test has been an eye opener for many people and has been the first step to them changing their lives,” says Van Staden.

Alcohol’s effects vary from person to person, depending on a variety of factors.
