Premier Stan Mathabatha has appointed Economic Development, Environment and Tourism MEC Seaparo Sekoati as acting MEC for the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development with effect from Monday, 4 June until further notice.
Sekoati will continue with this portfolio of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism as well as Agriculture and Rural Affairs until such time as the Premier announces the name of MEC Joy Matshoge’s successor.
Matshoge died in a car accident just more than a week ago. She was given a provincial official funeral last Saturday at Modimolle. It was attended by hundreds of community members as well as representatives of political parties including the African National Congress, Democratic Alliance and others. Ministers, Mayors, councillors and top leadership of the ANC Women’s League were also present at the funeral.
