Missing, missing, gone…

A Child goes missing every five hours in South Africa, according to the Missing Persons Bureau.

The results for the past year have been released and leave shocking results. The caseload increases every year, not necessarily because more individuals go missing, but also because more people became aware of Missing Children SA and their services.

From 1 December 2015 to 31 August 2016 a frightening number of 299 adults throughout SA were reported missing and 142 children, of which 124 adults were found again and 111 children, including deceased persons.

This is only the amount of which was reported, excluding unreported incidents.

In Limpopo four adults were reported missing and three were found, also a child was reported missing then found.

The province with the most reported missing persons is Gauteng followed by Western Cape and KwaZulu Natal.

The province with the least cases reported is Northern Cape.

According to Missing Children SA they are sure that the most cases reported to them and the police are due to Human Trafficking although it cannot be proven yet.

According to the International Labour Organisation it is estimated that 1,2 million children around the world are trafficked each year and furthermore about 32 billion dollars profit is generated annually from Human Trafficking.

Race, apparently, has a huge part in missing cases and 42% are African, 29% Caucasion, 26% are coloured and 3% are Indian and other races.
