The Start is the key to the future
Kenneth Rapetsoa, founder of The Start, discusses how unemployment and poverty influence teenage pregnancy in especially rural areas.

POLOKWANE – With the vision to help Gr 12 learners achieve their academic goals and career aspirations, Kenneth Rapetsoa (21), a student at the University of Witwatersrand and the founder of the group called The Start.
The Start formed in September 2015 and consist of a group of young individuals who volunteer to help high school learners.
“The Start consists of selfless young students from different higher learning institution nationally who want to help transform the world by helping learners achieve good marks, which will enable them to further their studies and get employed,” Rapetsoa said
He added that they held winter school programmes last year for grade 10 and 11 learners with the aim to keep the learners busy through learning and to keep them away from social ills corrupting the youth.
“The turn up was overwhelming, and we look forward to having more learners this year. We also host debates, dialogues and collect clothes during festive to give to the needy. Our vision is to see our group working jointly with other youth development groups to enhance excellent matric results in rural areas and fight the struggle against teenage pregnancy and poverty through education,” they said.
