Development Agency allocated R3 million

According to Stan Ramaila, Mayor of Sekhukhune, the Sekhukhune Development Agency (SDA) has been allocated R3 million to operate in the current financial year.

LIMPOPO – He said as the majority shareholder, the Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) continued to support the SDA.

“For this financial year, the SDA has been allocated R3 million.

“We are also pleased to announce that Mr Oupa Nkoane has been appointed as Chairperson of the SDA board,” informed Ramaila.

He said that one of the strategic objectives of the new council was to re-engineer SDA as a special vehicle purpose for local economic development and job creation.

He said that they have mandated the new board to outline a process of remodelling the agency in order to meet its intended objectives.

“In our 100 Days in office we have received concerns from various stakeholders about lack of visibility and perceived under-performance by the SDA.

“In essence, our people have not felt the presence of this structure since its establishment seven years ago.

“This calls on the new board to reposition the SDA so that it is visible among the people and seen as initiating economic programmes, in partnership with traditional leaders and the business community,” he concluded.
