Ladanna residents awoke to the sound of the South African Army Brass Band opening the medal parade hosted at Regiment Christiaan Beyers recently.
Some residents emerged from their homes to experience the preciseness of the parade consisting of men and women dressed in camouflage uniform.
After opening of the ceremony Officer Commanding of the South African Army, Rudzani Maphwanya handed medals to some 30 members in honour of their services rendered in the army.
Regiment Christiaan Beyers Officer Commanding Takalani Mphohoni explained that medals for 10 and 20 years service to the army were awarded to members as well as a Mandela medal to those who assisted during former President Nelson Mandela’s illness.
