Help Thalita Koum raise a girl

Thalita Koum's Girls' Network hosted an Education Fundraising Breakfast at Miami Lodge on Tuesday, 23 January in the hopes of raising money for the various beneficiaries within the organisation.

POLOKWANE – Education Fundraising Breakfast Programme Director Phuti Lekganyanyane welcomed the guests handing over to Thalita Koum Board Member Anastacia Lekalala who proceeded, carefully outlining the network’s aims.

“Our task is to be able to breach the gap and meet our girls’ basic needs in terms of education. That is why we ask for assistance from businesses and individuals to help us raise a girl together. It is also such an honour for the Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng to join us today, we appreciate your presence,” she explained.

Nkadimeng outlined the importance of building a society we would all want to live in. “I’m raising you so that you can come back and raise another child. We help you so that you can come and help another child,” she added.

One of the organisation beneficiaries Dipuo Mathekgane, spoke on behalf of the other beneficiaries on what the organisation has done for them.

“I ended up having a child at a very young age, but I kept on having hope that I want to be a good role model. We appreciate everything, and for that we say thank you for grooming us in every way possible,” she explained.

Moloi also took to the podium, mentioning that Thalita Koum has visited a child headed family in Groblersdal, explaining the current condition that the family is in.

“These children live in a one roomed house that does not even have a fitted door. We will be building this family a full furnished four bed-roomed house. The child-headed-family will now be living in a proper and well built house with a door,” Moloi explained that the 24-year old girl taking care of her family will need more than material donations.

A few business women who came to support the network Tshamano Makuya (SABC Limpopo General Manager), Tshepo Mathabatha (fashion designer) and Princess Tsakani Nkambule (Businesswoman, Entrepreneur and Author).

“God is the one that gives us the power to create wealth. All we have to do, is to go home and identify a child and donate to them. It does not have to be money, you can donate anything that a girl child needs,” Moloi concluded.
