Police in Mankweng are investigating a case of concealment of birth at Ga-Molepo village after a 30-year-old woman allegedly gave birth to twin boys in a pit toilet on Sunday.
According to the information released by the Police, the search and rescue services were summoned to the scene and managed to rescue one baby while the other was declared dead on the scene.
The mother and surviving infant were reportedly recuperating in hospital.
Police urged residents to seek professional assistance for any domestic problem and desist from resorting to inhumane methods of trying to solve problems.
Mankweng Police Spokesperson Mohlaka Mashiane said the details of the incident are still unclear but that Police’s investigations will hopefully show what transpired on the day. Department of Health Spokesperson, Thabiso Teffo confirmed that the mother and the rescued baby had been rushed to hospital.
