An inquest docket was opened after a middle-aged man allegedly drowned in Blood River outside Seshego yesterday (Sunday).
According to Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe the man was reportedly baptising fellow churchgoers in the river when the incident occurred. It is not clear why the man initially got into trouble and then disappeared under the water. The Police’s Search and Rescue Unit were called to the scene where a search operation was immediately launched. The body was later retrieved from the water, according to Ngoepe.
He once again warned communities to be cautious when entering rivers or dams whether for fun or religious purposes.
