BREAKING NEWS – Themane murder teen suspects remanded in custody

The seven teenage suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Thorisho Themane appeared in the Juvenile Court in the city earlier today (Friday).
National Prosecution Authority (NPA) Limpopo spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi afterwards informed Polokwane Observer that the case has been postponed to 2 April 2019 for formal bail application. The suspects will remain in custody, she explained.
Themane died in hospital on 23 February after allegedly being attacked by a group of youngsters with the incident being filmed and trending on social media. Police made their first arrest two days later when five teenagers were taken into custody. This was followed by the arrest of a sixth minor suspect, a girl, who was released soon after her arrest as she could not be linked to the incident.
Three adults were apprehended three days after the killing followed by the arrest of another teen suspect about a week ago. One of the adult suspects has since been discharged as he could not be linked to the case while Chuene Maleka and Alfred Mothapo were released on bail of R1 000 each and are also expected back in court soon.
