[VIDEO] J Ross wants to mentor and help boys grow into gentlemen

Jamela ‘J Ross’ Vuma, formerly known as Sgonondo is an artist/actor who rose to fame after being discovered by Somizi at the age of 15, speaks to Review about his journey

POLOKWANE – Inspiring young people to make positive life choices, is one of the things that guests can expect from J Ross at the Raising Legends event which will take place at Peter Mokaba on 22 June.

Jamela ‘J Ross’ Vuma, formerly known as Sgonondo, is an artist/actor who rose to fame after being discovered by Somizi at the age of 15.  Fame exposed him to the fast life, where he ended up with drug addiction that almost ended his life. “Fame came with excess to loads of cash at a young age. This exposed me to a life of alcohol abuse, women abuse, and doing all sorts of wrong things to try to look cool,” J Ross said.

Having turned his life around and he has found that he has a far greater calling than being an artist.  He has been vocal about his life experience and the intervention he received from God in his life.  He will be speaking at the Raising Legends Gala Dinner which embraces, supports and grooms a boy child into becoming a better man.

“This campaign spoke to my heart hence I wanted to be part of it as an ambassador. Young people need to be educated and taken care of. We want to bring up gentlemen,” he said. He added that this is particularly important, now with what’s happening in society, where men are the abusers and killers and say there is a need for positive guidance. His involvement with the campaign won’t be a once off, he is willing to find boys who he can help grow into better men.
