Aspiring and existing entrepreneurs from all over the province eagerly made use of the opportunity to hone the basic critical skills needed to make a businesses a success during an entrepreneurship summit hosted by Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) in Polokwane on Saturday.
The ‘I am an Entrepreneur’ summit offered a varied programme containing a combination of educational, skills development, types of funding for businesses as well as entrepreneurial leadership insights led by experts in various fields.
The summit series, founded in 2013, has seen its 48 summits attended by nearly 5 000 entrepreneurs from all provinces and has featured 54 recognised entrepreneurs as guest speakers. These included Jabu Mabuza, Alan Knott-Craig, Khanyi Dlhomo, Ronnie Apteker, David Kau, Tim Tebeila, Ran Neu-Ner, Thebe Ikalafeng, Cynthia Mkhombo as well as Kone and Bonolo Sebata.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LTA, Nomasonto Ndlovu said they were pleased to have given entrepreneurs in the province a platform to empower themselves. She described the summit as a way of empowering aspiring entrepreneurs, especially the youth in the country, and making a dent in the high level of unemployment and ailing economy.

“We are grateful to have partnered with I am an Entrepreneur as this will make a huge contribution in building capacity among entrepreneurs in the province across the board and also in the tourism value chain,” she said.
She added that the event will help raise LTA’s brand awareness, support tourism entrepreneurs, strengthen stakeholder relation and promote tourism activities in the province.
“LTA leveraged on the summit through brand positioning and exposure of tourism attractions in order to encourage travel within the province. The aim was also to support tourism entrepreneurs acquire tourism business skills thereby developing sustainable tourism businesses.”
Founder of ‘I am an Entrepreneur’, Andile Khumalo said they were excited to have partnered with LTA to help entrepreneurs to better lead their businesses and play their part in developing the province’s economy and placing it on the world map as a tourism destination of choice.
