LIMPOPO – Khariye Travels was delighted recently to hand over netball kit to Tshivhulana Primary School.
The donation included netball kit, balls and tekkies for all netball players.
Khariye Travels, a black-owned company specialising in Mediterranean Ship Cruises (MSC), local school trips, and international leisure holidays, stepped up its commitment to supporting sport in local schools.
As a registered agent with MSC Cruise, Khariye Travels recently initiated a programme aimed at promoting sports participation in schools.
According to Khariye Travels founder Lufuno Mulaudzi, Tshivhulana Primary School was carefully chosen as the adopted school under this programme, focusing on various sporting codes.
“The school not only participated in numerous district level competitions but also advanced to national championships. The pinnacle of Tshivhulana Primary School’s sporting achievements came in 2023 when their netball team clinched the CTM championship, earning them a remarkable R20 000 reward. Khariye Travels, acknowledging the profound impact of sporting codes on child development, considers this initiative as an integral part of their corporate responsibility,” said Mulaudzi.

She said the company’s donation of netball gear, including tekkies, serves as a tangible demonstration of Khariye Travels’ unwavering support for the Tshivhulana Primary School netball team.
“Emphasising the values of teamwork, determination, physical exercise and discipline, the company aims to inspire and uplift young athletes. We recognise that encouraging learners to actively participate in sport not only fosters personal growth but also contributes to reducing engagement in crime and drug abuse, a prevalent concern in many villages,” she said.
She told CV that the partnership between Khariye Travels and Tshivhulana Primary School goes beyond sports.
“A formal agreement has been established, in which the top-performing student by meeting specified criteria, will be awarded a cruise ship holiday with Khariye Travels. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to holistic development and educational excellence. We believe it takes a village to raise a child. The company continues to embark on journeys that not only explore the world but also leave a lasting positive impact on the communities they touch,” she said.
Tshivhulana Primary School School Governing Body secretary, Gift Netshivhulana said it is a step in the right direction in the sense that the school is very competitive when it comes to sports.
“Last year those kids won R20 000 and they once competed at national level in netball but they did not have suitable kits for the sport. As the SGB we feel honoured to have received the donation. Keep up the good work,” said Netshivhulana.
