Social media gave her beauty business a boost

Surprise Moleba had to come up with a smart plan that would change her life for the better.

POLOKWANE- If you use social media wisely, it can change your life for the better, and Surprise Molebala is a perfect example of that.

Molebala, who hails from Bochum, came to Polokwane in the hopes of expanding the beauty business that she started in 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Upon her arrival in the city, she started working in the streets as a hairdresser, but this was done without proper permits and she and her co-workers soon ran into trouble.

“It was tough working in the streets as we used to dodge the police every now and then,” she said.

Molebala continued her tried and eventually opened a second salon in Polokwane.

By this time, competition was rife.

“The pressure was tough, as there are so many hairdressers in town and I had no choice but to come up with a smart plan that would change my life for the better.”

She soon took to social media, posting peculiar food content, which resulted in a lot of online and social media traffic.

Her content was so well received that she decided to merge her two areas of expertise, by advertising her services as a talented hairdresser and nail technician too.

It was here that customers started booking appointments, and business is thriving.

Molebala said she plans to venture into the transport and logistics industries in the future, as she holds a code 14 driver’s license with a professional driving permit.

She advises the youth to use their social media platforms wisely and to associate themselves only with those who can help them grow mentally.
