Lim police to hunt down hijackers who killed man outside his house

An unknown group of suspects sped off in the victim's vehicle which was later recovered in the same village after it was abandoned.

LIMPOPO – The police in Nebo in the Sekhukhune District have launched a manhunt for a group of unknown suspects responsible for the murder of a 32-year-old man outside his house in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba reports that the incident took place in Phokoane village where the deceased, his girlfriend and uncle were accosted by the group of suspects.

“According to information at this stage, the group returned home from a local liquor outlet when the deceased requested his girlfriend to drive his double cab vehicle. Upon arrival at home, the uncle entered the house leaving the couple in the vehicle. Unknown suspects armed with firearms emerged from the darkness and ordered the couple to move to the back seat. The victims allegedly attempted to escape when the man was shot multiple times, killing him instantly,” his statement read.

Ledwaba said the suspects sped off in the victim’s vehicle which was later recovered in the same village after the suspects abandoned it.

“The deceased was identified as Sipho Aphane and a case of murder and hijacking has been opened.”

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has appealed to the community to work with the police by providing valuable information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspects responsible for the attack.
