Limpopo Hawks on the hunt for heavily armed CIT suspects

A group of 12 heavily armed men disarmed G4S security guards before blowing up the safes and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

LIMPOPO – The Limpopo Hawks are appealing to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of a group of heavily armed suspects to come forward.

The Limpopo Hawks spokesperson Colonel Matimba Maluleke said the group ambushed and robbed a G4S armoured vehicle on Monday evening near Tafelkop.

“It is alleged that G4S security guards were driving on the Ramongwerane main road when a white Isuzu pick-up bakkie drove past them. The occupants from the bakkie began shooting at the armoured vehicle until it came to a standstill. A black Porsche then arrived and 12 heavily armed men approached the vehicle,” his statement read.

Maluleke said the armed men ordered the security guards to get out of the vehicle and disarmed them of two firearms with ammunition before blowing up the safes and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.

“As no arrests have been made, the Hawks are appealing to anyone with information to contact Lieutenant Colonel Nkoana Makutu on 071 481 2461. Alternatively, information can be shared through the crime stop number on 08600 10111 or via the MySapsApp,” he said.
