Pageant beauty gives meals to Polokwane’s vulnerable

Bochilu Maake recently frequented the area around Hans van Rensburg and Excelsior streets and noticed a dire need among the less fortunate.

POLOKWANE – Bochilu Maake has endeavoured to provide food for job seekers and the homeless on the corner of Hans van Rensburg and Excelsior streets in the city.

On August 26, the 19-year-old Miss Limpopo Province semi-finalist prepared a nutritious meal of rice, chicken and vegetables for those less fortunate.

She explained that she decided to do this after she frequented the area recently and realised the dire need.

“These people left their homes looking for jobs, and they go through a lot on the streets,” she said. Maake said she used to be shy and lacked confidence but made a conscious decision to step out of her comfort zone.

Happiness all around after a decent meal for the homeless.

She also recently hosted a Women’s Day talk, and her next step will be a handover at the Place of Safety on September 15.

“I have been collecting clothes, shoes and toys which will be handed over, and I request anyone who has extras to share to get in contact with me so we can donate more.”

She said her journey towards the Miss Limpopo Province title has been a dream of hers for a long time.

“As a young girl growing up in this culturally rich region, I was always captivated by the beauty and diversity that surrounded me. My dream of representing Limpopo at provincial level was born from a deep love for my homeland and a desire to make a difference,” she explained.

She added that the journey is not only about personal growth and beauty, but also about giving back and making an impactful difference in the lives of others.

“I am an active advocate for causes close to my heart, such as empowerment of young people of South Africa especially my province of Limpopo and socio-economic growth. My commitment to making a positive impact in my community adds depth to my pageant journey and makes it even more fulfilling.”

Anyone who would like to make a donation can reach her on Instagram and TikTok.
