Two children among eight dead in N1 head-on collision

The MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani has called on motorists to be extra cautious on the roads this long weekend following the death of eight people on Saturday night.

POLOKWANE –  Two children, two women and four men were killed when a sedan collided head-on with a taxi on the N1.28 Matoks last night.
Reports suggest the driver of the sedan crossed over into the oncoming traffic lane and collided head-on with the taxi. Both drivers were killed.
“One person is in a life-threatening condition seven others were seriously injured while four people sustained minor injuries,” departmental spokesperson Vongani Chauke said.
The injured were taken to Botlokwa, Makado and Polokwane Hospitals respectively for medical treatment.
“This incident comes at a time when Limpopo is still mourning the accident in Musina last week. Motorists should be very careful while travelling to their different destinations as we continue to lose lives on our roads. All should be concerned and promote road safety during our journeys,” Transport and Community Safety MEC Florence Radzilani said.
She further urged law enforcement officers to ensure that motorists comply while traveling.
