Foreign national arrested near Mankweng for rape of daughter (6)

The man will next appear before the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Friday on a charge of rape.

POLOKWANE – A 43-year-old foreign national was remanded in custody for the alleged rape of his 6-year-old biological daughter after he appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The man was arrested last Thursday in Solomondale after the matter was reported to the police.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the victim’s parents had an arrangement that the girl reside with her father in Solomondale from December 2022.

“During a visit to her mother, the victim complained about pain in her pubic area. The mother suspected the girl might have been raped and took her to a clinic for medical examination. A doctor confirmed that the child was raped and the victim indicated that it was her father’s doing,” his statement read.

The incident was reported to the police on Wednesday, followed by the suspect’s arrest the following day.

The suspect will next appear on Friday (October 27) on a charge of rape.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, condemned the shocking incident in the strongest possible terms and applauded the police for the immediate arrest of the suspect.

“This man was expected to provide and protect his daughter, instead, he destroyed her future. This is disturbing,” she said.
