Birthday visit Ri songo neta Day Care Centre

Senior police officer Col Rudzani Rakhadan celebrated her 59th birthday with with the children from the Ri songo neta Day Care Centre.

LIMPOPO – Senior police officer at the Vhembe Police Station, Col Rudzani Rakhadani celebrated her birthday by visiting a daycare centre for disabled centre in Gaba village near Tshaulu on November 10.

Rakhadani told disabled learners of the Ri songo neta Day Care Centre to steer away from crime despite their challenges.

She said she was over the moon to be able to celebrate her 59th birthday with them, and that people with disabilities deserve to be treated with dignity.

According to Rakhadani, she first learned of the centre in 2010 after being appointed as the station commander of the Tshaulu Police Station.

“I always visit them and make a donation too, as they are dear to me.”

During the visit, she was accompanied by the newly crowned Miss SAPS Vhembe 2023, Sgt Rofhiwa Nangammbi, senior police officers, social crime coordinators from the Tshaulu Police Station and parents of learners at the Ri songo neta Day Care Centre.

The manager of the centre, Lawrence Tshibalanganda welcomed Rakhadani’s effort to celebrate her birthday with children from the centre.

Ri songo neta Day Care Centre is a non-government organisation which was founded in 1998, when children with disabilities were unable to be admitted in special schools around Thohoyandou such as Fulufhelo and Tshilidzini.

According to Tshibalanganda, the founder of the centre, the late Samson Mbedzi was also disabled and often spoke about the future of children living with disabilities.

“We have 35 children living with disabilities here and this official visit has inspired us.

“We support and appreciate Col Rakhadani saying that she urges the children here to realise their dreams despite the fact that they are living with disabilities.”
