The child’s mother, Annah Kganyago, says the explanation the family received raises more questions than answers, as she seeks clarity on the circumstances that led to her son’s passing.
She said she received a distressing call from the school, urging her to rush to the hospital.
“They didn’t tell me he was already dead. They just said he had fainted. I only found out that my son had died when the doctor told me he was already deceased upon arrival at the hospital.”
The news left the family devastated and searching for accountability.
The Department of Education has advised Kganyago to approach the office of the Head of Department (HOD) for further discussions.
The department, has, however refrained from commenting further, citing the ongoing postmortem being conducted by the Department of Health.
“We are not commenting on the matter. The mother must approach the office of the HOD for further engagements,” said Mike Maringa, director of communications for the Department of Education.
