Taxila learner to host colour run to unite city

Victor Moabelo from Nirvana said that his grandmother Mabetha was a diabetic, which is why the foundation's first Colour Run was hosted specifically during National Diabetes month in November last year.

POLOKWANE – A Gr 12 learner from Taxila, Victor Moabelo from Nirvana is the founder of The Holding Hands Foundation and will be hosting their second annual Colour Run under the foundation on December 9.

“The purpose of the event, besides raising profit for charity is to strengthen the relationship between the foundation and the Mighty Tactical Reaction Service which is a security company that has partnered with the foundation since its earlies days. Another objective is to unite Polokwane in the spirit of fitness and good health. The foundation aims to advocate for healthy living and also to remind people that maintaining a healthy body is of pivotal importance,” Moabelo said.

Participants will gather for a 4km run/walk from the Taxila premises, around parts of Nirvana and back to Taxila.

The fun-in-the-sun event that splashes joy, love, happiness and good health will include aerobics, good food and drinks, music and other exciting activities on the day.

Moabelo told Review that his grandmother Mabetha was a diabetic, which is why the foundation’s first Colour Run was hosted specifically during National Diabetes month in November last year.

Moabelo explained that the event will give the community an opportunity to socialise and make new friends, and possibly new business partners too. He added that this is a family friendly event where games such as tug-of-war, egg-and-spoon races and more can be enjoyed by young and old. The foundation was founded in November last year and Moabelo concluded that the name comes from the old Pedi idiom that reads; ‘bobedi bo bolaya noga’,which means that ‘anything can be overcome when people unite and work together’, hence the name The Holding Hands Foundation.

Moabelo’s friend Tebogo Moratho is a helping hand with organising the event.

General tickets are pre-sold at R60 which will be delivered to your door-step for free around Polokwane before October 29 and from there on, the tickets will cost R100 at the gate. Call or WhatsApp 071 303 1457 for enqueries.
